Photostatic copies of diaries (1797-1798, 1804, 1822, 1824) including an account of Thompson's survey of that part of the American-Canadian boundary lying between Lake Superior and the Lake of the Woods, of his visit to the villages of the Mandan Indians on the Missouri River, and of his return trip to Grand Portage; and scattered letters (1820-1843) addressed to British officials, dealing with Thompson's work as surveyor for the International Boundary Commission under the Treaty of Ghent.
